FAIRBANKS, AK - Nanook junior Kenny Barker (San Diego, CA) had a huge first half and senior transfer Jushay Rockett (Long Beach, CA) had a huge game to lead Alaska to a lopsided 91-58 victory over Lancaster Bible College at the Patty Center Thursday night. Barker scored 18 of his 20 in the first frame and Rockett, a transfer from Texas State, had game-highs of 26 points and 10 rebounds in his blue-and-gold debut.

Rockett, who made 11 of 18 shots from the field, took home Toyota Player of the Game honors. Evan Skinner (North Pole, AK) showed off a polished game in his first action as a Nanook. The 6-4 guard made 5 of 7 shots for 11 points and grabbed eight boards in just 12 minutes of play.

The Nanooks shot 54 percent in the first half and had 12 offensive rebounds on 19 missed shots to stake out to a 50-26 lead. The boards on the offensive end resulted in 15 second-chance points for the Nanooks, who outscored the Chargers 22-6 in the paint in the half.

A sloppy second half for the Nanooks included 12 turnovers and just 41 percent from the field and 62 percent at the line. But the bigger Alaska players reaped the benefits down low to hold Lancaster at bay and coast to the win in front of 309 fans.

Alaska out-rebounded the Chargers, whose tallest starter stands 6'3", by a 45-29 margin on the glass for the game. Lancaster managed to match the Nanooks at 48 percent shooting but was plagued by 26 turnovers.

Tim Feliciano led Lancaster with 20 points and Wid Lyman chipped in 16.

The Nanooks and Chargers have a rematch tomorrow night (Nov. 3). The game will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. at the Patty Center.
