BEYERLE FIFTH AT ISSF WORLD CUP
FORT BENNING, GA-Junior Jamie Beyerle (Lebanon, PA) of the University of Alaska Fairbanks rifle team finished fifth in the 50 meter, three-position rifle competition at the International Sport Shooting Federation World Cup at the Fort Benning Pool Range Thursday.
Beyerle shot a qualifying score of 579, advanced to the finals as one of the top eight shooters, shot a score of 97.8 in the finals and finished with a score of 679.8.
Russia's Tatiana Goldobina won the gold medal in the event, Wen Yin of China finished second, and Olga Dovgun, of Kazakhstan, finished third.
"Jamie had a solid performance," said UAF Head Coach Glenn Dubis. "She was solid all the way around, and didn't have any weak points."
The World Cup follows the same format as the NCAA Championships and the Olympic Games, with the top eight qualifiers advancing to the final round.
Beyerle finished second in the small-bore competition and earned All American honors as the Nanooks finished fourth at the NCAA Championships in March.
