The future begins now for UAF Hockey. Alex Staudt, a 6'3" 175 lb., left handed defenseman out of Cranbrook, B.C. signed a National Letter of Intent to play hockey for UAF in the fall. Alex becomes the youngest player ever to sign with UAF. He will be 17 when he laces up the skates in the fall.
Coach Todd Jones was Staudt's coach last year and says, "Alex is a well rounded D-man. I counted on him in all situations last year, power play, penalty killing, 5-5. He plays with a lot of maturity. He is a guy who skates well, has good size and great vision."
Tavis MacMillan also has seen Alex play and praises his offensive skills he went on to say "If Alex dedicates himself over the next four years, I see a bright future for him even after UAF."
Staudt is so young that he won't be eligible for the NHL draft until 2004
