Each Friday, the Alaska Nanooks will be publishing blog posts from one or more newcomers from each of Alaska's 10 varsity sports throughout the preseason. More sports will join the blog once their first official day of practice begins.

"Welcome back Nanook fans, it's Markie and Emily again. With so many exciting things that have happened this week, we can't even fathom where to begin. Saturday night at the Patty, the Nooks went head-to-head in an intense battle of the Blue vs. Gold. The blue team (Emily's team…sorry Markie) took the 'W.' Everyone remained friends after the match because of our outstanding team chemistry. Remember, that is the secret ingredient to success, kids. Monday started out with a light workout that included our back squat max, which we obliterated as always. After the workout, we all got gussied up for our headshots and promotional pictures, everyone looked very good… even the coaches with their button-up shirts, ties, blazers and basketball shorts to tie it all together looked good.
The best part of the whole week was roadtripping to the Denali National Park where we stayed in a cabin on the lake and the Denali Sightseeing Safari company took us on a tour through the back of the park. While on this adventure, we canoed, kayaked, swam, picked berries, contemplated who our team captains would be an explored the Alaskan frontier in monster trucks (which Markie talked her way into driving, #RollNooks). Everyone enjoyed themselves and we made it back just in time to learn the fight song at New Student Orientation. Now that all the new Nooks are well informed on all the latest and greatest Nanook cheers, come one, come all to the Alumni match this Saturday at 7pm AKT in the Patty!
See you there!
XOXO,
Em&M"
