#12 Fresno Pacific Rallies for 3-2 Victory Against Humboldt

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Down two sets to one, 12th-ranked Fresno Pacific didn't let that stop itself from mounting a comeback Saturday afternoon as the Sunbirds (2-0) came from behind to down Humboldt State in a thriller, 3-2, in match three of the 2013 Flint Hills Resources Alaska Nanook Classic at the Patty Center.

Jessie Alcorn and Rupia Inck each registered a match-best 18 kills as FPU hit just shy of .300 for the match. Morghan Williams also contributed 13 terminations and five blocks while Bissie DenHartog dished out 38 assists. Defensively, Hannah Butler tallied 36 digs in the back court while Inck added 16 digs.

For the Lumberjacks (1-1), Kaitlyn Dunaway led the team with 16 kills and a team-best 21 digs while Symone Hayden had 15 terminations and 12 digs. Erin Mitchell turned in a match-high 40 assists for a HSU squad that hit just .151 on the afternoon.

After dropping sets, Fresno Pacific came back with authority owning the second sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-14, holding the 'Jacks to under a .100 hitting percentage in those sets. In the fifth, the Sunbirds hit .222 (9-3-27) to win it 15-12, while the Lumberjacks hit only .160 (8-4-25) while committing two service errors.

HSU battles Colorado Christian at 5 p.m. while FPU takes on host Alaska in the Classic finale tonight at 7 p.m.
