Nanooks Sign Norwegian Shooter Anna Hjelmevoll

FAIRBANKS, AK – Alaska Nanooks head men's and women's rifle coach Dan Jordan announced the signing of Anna Hjelmevoll, a standout shooter from Ulvik, Norway, to a National Letter of Intent.

Hjelmevoll prepped at the Norges Toppidretts Gymnasium in Kongsvinger, where she graduated in 2009. A rising star among the European junior shooting ranks, she has captured two European Championships - one for air rifle in Switzerland (2008) and one for smallbore in Croatia (2009) – a World Cup title (2009), three golds at the Hell Open (2008), fourth place at the Nordic Championship in Ökerö, Sweden (2008) and a silver medal at the Norwegian Nationals in Air Rifle (2009).

Her best career performances include shooting a 397 in air rifle at the National Championships and a 398 at the World Cup tryouts in Munich, Germany in 2009.

Hjelmevoll will enter the University of Alaska Fairbanks this fall as a freshman with four years of NCAA eligibility remaining. She joins Ryan Dunham-Bender (Delta Junction, AK/Delta HS) and Michael Liuzza (New Orleans, LA/Jesuit HS) in the Alaska Rifle recruiting class of 2010.
