Nanook All-Sports Banquet Set For Friday, May 1

FAIRBANKS, AK –The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Athletics will hold its annual end-of-season All-Sports Banquet Friday, May 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge in the Edgewater Banquet Room.

Former Alaska Nanook goaltender Keith Bartusch (2001-2005) will be the Master of Ceremonies. Bartusch, who broke into the starting lineup mid-way through his sophomore year and went on to post a winning career record as well as win three consecutive Governor’s Cups (2002-04), is a Commercial Loan Officer with Denali State Bank in Fairbanks.

This is the athletic department's premier end-of-the-year event and in addition to the recognition of each team’s Most Valuable Player and Dr. Wood Scholar-Athlete, will be the naming of the Humanitarian of the Year, the Harris Shelton Spirit of Competition recipient, the Intercollegiate Athletics Council male and female Student-Athlete of the Year, the Athletic Director’s Coach of the Year award, and the inaugural Outstanding female and male Athlete of the Year awards.

The public is invited to join the coaches and staff in recognizing student-athletes for their 2008-2009 achievements. The cost for the dinner event is $35. Advance purchase is required and no tickets will be sold at the door. All reservations must be made by April 29, 2009.
