FAIRBANKS – The Nanooks swimming team welcomed Simon Fraser back to the Patty Center Pool for their second dual meet on Saturday morning. Alaska recorded an individual and relay win on the day, but fell to the Red Leafs 100-48.
The 'Nooks started strong, winning the 200-yard medley relay to open the meet. The team of McKenzie Fazio, Dorka Dancsok, Giorgia Merlo and Ali Pecore swam to a 1:47.37 in the event, with Fazio posting a personal-best 27.66 to lead off the relay. In the 500-yard freestyle, Kitti Marton finished highest for the Nanooks, posting a 5:18.28 to finish fourth. Dancsok continued her strong weekend in the following event by winning the 200-yard IM, leading the way with a 2:07.73.
MacKenzie O'Keefe and Macy Ahrens led the Nanooks with third-place finishes in the following two events, the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:02.66 and 2:28.67, respectively. Fazio notched another personal best in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:09.29 to place second for the Nanooks. Pecore posted a team-best 53.96 in the 100-yard freestyle, which was good for third, and the relay team of Fazio, Cosima Schmiedel, Merlo and Dancsok swam to a second-place finish (7:55.41) in the 800-yard freestyle relay to conclude the meet.
The 'Nooks are off until Friday, Nov. 21, when they begin the Vandal Invitational in Boise, Idaho. Their next two meets will be invitationals —the Vandal Invitational and the UNLV Invitational — and they will not be back in the Patty Center Pool until Jan. 16, 2026, for their first of two dual meets vs. Westmont.
