Cody Burgess Earns All-Tournament Honors at CSUS
TURLOCK, CA-Senior forward Cody Burgess (Leavenworth, WA/Wenatchee Valley CC/Cascade HS) of the University of Alaska Fairbanks' women's basketball team has been honored.
Burgess was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Stanislaus Farm Supply, hosted by Cal State Stanislaus last weekend.
Burgess averaged 17 points per game in UAF's two tournament games. She also averaged 6.5 rebounds per game, and added four assists, three steals and one blocked shot.
"This indicates that Cody is picking up where she left off last season," said UAF Head Coach Lynne Andrew. "She came into the tournament and really established herself as a dominant inside player, right from the first game, and really helped lead our team. Cody had great numbers on both nights. For a post player of her size, her ability to score inside is a great accomplishment." UAF split a pair of games at the tournament.
The Nanooks will be in action this weekend, hosting the Mount McKinley Bank/North Star Invitational Tournament at the Patty Center. UAF will play Utah Valley State Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. following the game between Western Carolina and Jacksonville State, which begins at 3:00. The third place game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Saturday, with the championship game set for 5:00.
