Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
I. MEMBERSHIP
A. This committee consists of two elected representatives from each varsity sport. Each team will elect new members for each upcoming academic year.
B. The exception to the election process states that cross country and skiing must have one male and one female runner and skier represented on the student-athlete advisory committee.
II. PURPOSE and ACTIVITIES
A. The purpose of the committee is to enhance the student-athlete experience.
B. General areas of involvement include:
1. A communication link between student-athletes, coaches, athletics administration and University administration.
2. Promotion of campus attendance at home contests in all sports.
3. Promotion of campus and community drug/alcohol awareness including drug-free athletics teams.
4. Represent UAF at the conference level.
5. Represent UAF at the NCAA Leadership Conference.
6. Disseminate NCAA proposal legislation and new legislation to team members.
C. At the beginning of each academic year the committee will determine specific activities for the year.
D. Based on specific criteria, SAAC student-athletes will be nominated for induction to Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Student-Athlete Honorary Society.
