Greenham Named Finalist For Lowe's Senior CLASS Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Alaska Nanooks senior goalie Scott Greenham has been named one of ten finalists for the 2012 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. The group of ten NCAA® men's ice hockey finalists were narrowed down from the initial field of 20 student-athletes, who excel both on and off the ice, announced in October.

Greenham becomes the fifth Nanook in the hockey award's six-year history to be named a finalist for the national honor. His predecessors include Curtis Fraser (2007 finalist and Lowe's All-Senior Second Team), Trevor Hyatt (2009 finalist and Second Team selection), Dion Knelsen (2010 finalist and First Team selection) and Bryant Molle (2011 finalist and Second Team selection).

The Addison, Ont. Native has an 8-11-4 record with a 2.50 goals-against average and .901 save percentage through 23 games this year and his three shutouts, which give him a program-record 11 career shutouts, are seventh best among Division I goalies.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to determine the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on either the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award website or the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Facebook fan page through March 18. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I men's ice hockey head coaches' votes to determine the winner.

Lowe's, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the Senior CLASS Award® winner during the 2012 NCAA Men's Frozen Four®, which will be held April 5 and 7 in Tampa.
