The position will remain open until Sunday, March 28. The hiring committee will meet with a UAF Human Resources consultant at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 29 to begin reviewing the field of candidates.

The timeline for the remainder of the selection process is as follows: Hiring Committee will turn in their screening scores by Friday, April 2 and begin phone interviews on Friday, April 9; the final on-campus interviews start on Friday, April 16 and the chosen candidate is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, April 21.

Members of the hiring search committee include: former women's basketball coach, Diann Darnall; former women's basketball players Deanna Dieringer and Jenny Benson (also a former coach); current Alaska Nanooks women's basketball trainer, Heidi Ritchie; Alaska Nanooks' head hockey coach, Dallas Ferguson; former women's basketball booster club president, Amy Krier; former member of the original Top of the World Classic community organizing committee, Harry Davis; women's basketball supporters, Paul Taylor and Merle Johnson, and former men's basketball player and sponsor of the Mt. The women's basketball team is currently being guided by interim head coach Dave Thompson, who has filled the void left by former head coach Darryl Smith's (2008-09) departure in the spring of 2009.

"Dave's positive influence has helped the team persevere despite serious injuries sustained over the last two seasons,” said Karr. “Women's basketball is our top priority and we will do whatever it takes to get the program headed in the right direction."
