FAIRBANKS, AK - Alaska Nanooks women's volleyball head coach
Phil Shoemaker announced the signing of 5-3 libero Jessica Eicher of Chugiak, Alaska and Chugiak High School to a National Letter of Intent.
Eicher led the Mustangs to the 2009 Cook Inlet Conference Championship and a 13-1 record on the season. The Mustangs were the runner ups in the 2008 Alaska State Tournament.
“Jessica is a good, dynamic player whose progress we have been tracking for about a year now.” said Shoemaker. “When she attended camp this summer we were impressed with her abilities, and how well she fit our team needs.”
A dynamic student-athlete, Eicher is a 2010 Alaskan scholar.
"She's a great student and has been trained very well at Chugiak HS, which just completed a terrific season,” Shoemaker said. “We are very pleased that Jessica has decided to be a Nanook.”
Versatile on and off the court, Eicher has also enjoyed success as a motocross rider in the state of Alaska. She raced for three years and took home the Anchorage Racing Lions Women's Novice Championship in 2005.
Eicher is the first recruit to sign for the 2010 season. The Blue and Gold finished the 2009 campaign 12-15 overall and 6-10 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
