The Blue and Gold host the No.12 Michigan State Spartans for a two-game Central Collegiate Hockey Association series at the Carlson Center on Friday and Saturday. Opening face off Friday night is at 7:05 p.m. AKT, while Saturday's contest is set to start an hour earlier at 6:05 p.m. AKT to accommodate a live national television broadcast of the match-up by KFXF Fox 7 and Comcast.

Alaska Nanooks senior forward Dion Knelsen (Three Hills, AB, Drumheller (AJHL)) has been named as one of 10 finalists for the 2010 Men's Ice Hockey division of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. Nationwide balloting begins immediately to determine the winner. Lowe’s, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the Senior CLASS Award winner in April at the NCAA Men’s Frozen Four® in Detroit, Michigan.

Junior forward Grace Milliken (Healy, AK) has been named to the Academic All-District women's basketball second team by ESPN The Magazine, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Milliken, who maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average is a biological science major at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

The Alaska Nanooks men’s basketball team closed off their three game road trip on Wednesday night in Billings, MT with a 75-58 loss to Montana State Billings. Senior guardEmmanuel Jenkins (Tacoma, WA) scored a team-high 15 points but it was not enough as Alaska dropped their third straight contest.

Alaska shot only 20% from the field in the first half and committed 25 turnovers in their 18th straight loss, 81-48, to Alaska Anchorage on Wednesday night at the Patty Center. Lakeshia Levi (Warner Robins, GA) scored 20 points and pulled down 9 rebounds as the Nanooks fell to 1-18 and 0-8 in the GNAC.
